Yoga & Barre Teacher
Janelle’s path to teaching began over a decade ago through Barre, where she discovered the power of strength, confidence, and resilience. Yoga entered her life during a season of healing and recalibration, offering space to slow down, breathe deeply, and rebuild trust in her body. What began as a physical practice evolved into a grounding presence rooted in awareness, intention, and listening inward.
Today, Janelle weaves strength and softness through a teaching style that is both grounding and soulful. Her yoga classes emphasize mindful movement, breath-led sequencing, and thoughtful pacing. Expect clear cueing and themes that invite self-reflection without force, creating space to balance effort with ease and strength with surrender.
While yoga is at the heart of her teaching, Janelle’s Barre background brings clarity, stability, and functional strength to every class. She values purposeful movement, accessible options, and an inclusive environment where all bodies and experience levels feel supported.
Practicing yoga in Namibia, through sunrise movement, quiet reflection, and time in nature alongside elephants, further shaped Janelle’s relationship with presence and intentional living. These experiences continue to influence how she holds space: grounded, observant, and deeply respectful of each student’s journey.
Based in North Lake Tahoe, Janelle draws daily inspiration from the balance of effort and rest found in the natural world. Outside the studio, she is a devoted cat mom to Maui and Kona, an elephant activist and foster mom to orphaned elephants across Africa, and an enthusiastic participant in Tahoe’s outdoor lifestyle.
Join Janelle for yoga or Barre at The Sanctuary and expect a class that feels steady, intentional, and nourishing, one that supports you in moving through your day feeling stronger, more centered, and at ease.
